The standard, go-to template; this division is relatively low-cost, reliable, and performs well in most terrains, especially forest and jungle. It works best as a basic infantry unit, used to hold the line or make a general push along the front.
Best Light Tank Division Hoi4
If players are looking for a cheaper and lighter variant of the standard infantry template, a 15-width is their best bet. Requiring less equipment and manpower than bigger divisions, this template is best used in theaters with a limited amount of supply.
Of course, that depends on the country being played and the situation it faces, but these divisions are nevertheless a solid pick (if in need of a harder-hitting template, try using 30-width or adding a light flame tank company).
Predictably, these divisions excel in mountain warfare. Slightly beefier than regular infantry, this template is designed to fit three of these mountaineer divisions into 75-width mountains, plus an extra fourth division if attacking from multiple directions.
Particularly useful once a breakthrough has been made, these divisions (which can cover three times more ground than an infantry division, and almost double that of a cavalry division) are best used to quickly encircle enemy divisions, and hold that ground until the pocket is destroyed.
Pairing infantry and artillery has been a classic combination since the creation of cannons. Adding artillery to infantry divisions is great because it gives the high defense infantry a strong soft attack boost. While the combat width of your infantry divisions will vary, the basic principle will stay the same. For support companies you will want support artillery, an engineer company, an anti-air company, and throw in some support anti-tank if your enemy utilizes armor.
The width of your division will be up to preference, but it is best to stick with widths of 18, 27, and somewhere in the range of 40-45 for larger divisions. Smaller and large divisions both have pros and cons, so keep those in mind when choosing your combat width.
Pure infantry can be useful because it is cheap to produce and uses minimal fuel. Using only infantry allows you to stay at 10 combat width, which offers the best organization for the combat width. Adding support artillery and an armored recon company make this division very effective at pushing across a front line.
Armored divisions are indispensable when it comes to breaking through front lines. Armored divisions have excellent attack values and are usually more mobile. Medium tanks will be used because of how good they are all-around, but feel free to swap them out for light or heavy tanks depending on personal preference. If you want to prioritize tank-on-tank combat, swap out the artillery for either anti-tank or a tank destroyer.
If you can manage that, any lightly equipped infantry units in your way will be struggling to keep up with the speed that you're putting up. Encircling units with this division is critical to get the most out of it, especially since it only has 12 division widths.
Suppose you can support this template with infantry and maybe other mobilized divisions. In that case, enemy armies may be unable to compensate or adjust in time. Ensure your blitzkrieg isn't too fast, or your tanks might accidentally isolate themselves deep behind enemy lines.
Suppose you focus on building artillery, light tanks, and anti-air. In that case, this build can complement your soldiers perfectly by making a stout, high-organization unit that can outlast your opponent.
Many players underestimate how valuable light tank support can be, so why not make them pay and cry for their mistakes by giving your ground troops some armor on top of the artillery and anti-air support that they will already have?
An even better version of the Cheap Lines that can be more versatile is the classic Space Marine build with some support units to give it that extra edge. For those new to template building, Space Marines in Hoi4 are infantry divisions with tanks inserted into the combat portion of the template.
So long as the supply is manageable, the only thing that will stop your piercing and breakthrough stat is poor management, enemy CAS or heavy anti-tank divisions specifically built to stop your build. 2ff7e9595c
